As Ron (my now old cousin of about 10 years) and I were celebrating our 61st birthdays, he told me about Clemon. Clemon is in his 80’s. Ron hands me his cell and I talk to him. I can only describe it as a thrill and an honor to speak to an elder cousin for the first time. We chatted a few days later and he told me some things about our common ancestor, Walter Hancock. Walter is my grand uncle and Clemon’s grandfather.
A couple of weeks later, I hear from Phyllis when she responds to my post about my ‘notorious granduncles’. She is the great granddaughter of Walter Hancock. While we struggle with some minor Internet issues, I get in touch with Vera. Vera is Phyllis’ sister. They both live in South Carolina. They give me Lorie’s phone number. Lorie is their mother. We talk and I tell her what Clemon told me about Walter.
I am over the moon with meeting my new cousins. Walter Hancock (1870-1933) is certainly tapping on my shoulder and pulling my coat.
